Performance Insights for Top Android Platformers in Q1 2021

The first quarter of 2021 has been eventful for platformer games on the Android platform in the United States. Sensor Tower's data provides a glimpse into the performance of the top five games in this category. Here is how they stacked up.

Subway Surfers, a perpetual favorite, maintained strong momentum with its number of downloads starting at around 120K and ending the quarter with 87K. The game saw an upward trajectory in weekly active users (WAUs), from approximately 1.7M to nearly 2M by the end of March.

CookieRun: OvenBreak experienced a peak in downloads in mid-January with 14K but ended the quarter with a slight dip to 4K. WAUs fluctuated, reaching a high of 47K before settling down to around 40K.

Fun Run 3 - Multiplayer Games showed a steady performance in downloads, hovering around 6K throughout the quarter. The WAUs for Fun Run 3 saw a decrease from 27K at the beginning of the quarter to just under 20K by its end.

Sonic Forces - Running Game by SEGA displayed a consistent download rate, with numbers ranging from 25K to 29K. The game's WAUs saw a gentle increase, peaking at around 344K in late March.

A new entrant, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!, made a spectacular debut with an impressive 1.96M downloads in its first week. The WAUs also saw a swift rise to over 2M, indicating a strong start for the newcomer.
